Sometimes I want to post something to only one platform (e.g. only to Mastodon, not Twitter) and it's obviously a huge pain in the arse to have to go back to moa.party to temporarily disable cross-posting (especially since that site doesn't seem to keep me logged in, so I have to reconnect it to Twitter and Mastodon each time - is that expected behaviour or something I'm doing wrong..? Can I maybe only be logged in from one device at a time, and logging in from another device kills the previous session?).
It'd be much easier if I could use hashtags to either opt-in or opt-out of cross-posting to the different platforms, like the ancient Twitter-to-Facebook cross-poster used to do with the #fb hashtag.
Ideally the hashtags would be as short as possible, to consume as few characters as possible (especially on Twitter), so my first thought is literally to use #t, #m and #i to opt-in to Twitter, Mastodon and Instagram cross-posting, respectively - maybe then using #nt, #nm and #ni as "NOT-Twitter", "NOT-Mastodon" and "NOT-Instagram" opt-outs for when Moa is configured to cross-post by default? I'm open to suggestions there, though 😸
With how Moa works now I'm currently inclined to keep cross-posting disabled from Mastodon-to-Twitter and always post on Twitter if I want something to end up on both platforms. It's a bit limiting, but that's the best set-up I've come up with so far without being able to easily opt-in and opt-out of cross-posting.
