Updated NVIDIA user defined fan curve script #1

Closed ghost closed 7 years ago

Original script does not work anymore with the latest driver (378.13). I changed up some syntax according to this post: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1527515#p1527515

Potential improvement: a way to notify users in case the script becomes non-functional and fan speeds do not get changed.

(PS. I'm new to Git. I might have gotten this pull request wrong. It's my first request).

Hello sagir,

Welcome to github! Thanks for the reminder on updating this script. I've only updated this on my end and not on github.

I've taken a look at the pull. I've forgot to state that zero fan speed is only for 700 series and above (Firmware allowing the fans to rest at idle), from what I recall. When I get free time in the coming weeks, I will try and improve this a bit. As for now I will merge your code.

Thank you for creating the script. It's been really helpful for my GT430 which lacks an onboard automatic fan controller. It used to overheat like crazy. Same for my GTX580, which overheated when playing games. Now they're nice and comfy at around 75C peak.
