[Professions] Profession Specializations #2404

Open devastator opened 11 years ago

devastator commented 11 years ago

Current State: Profession Specializations cannot be unlearned and changed

Expected Result: Profession Specializations should be unlearnable as follows:

Blacksmithing (Weaponsmithing):

Leatherworking:

Upon unlearning a Specialization you should unlearn all the respective recipes that correspond to this type of Specialization.

Specializations that can be unlearned as intended at the moment on the live servers are the Tailoring Specializations. You can check them when fixing this. The NPCs that give the options to unlearn are: Nesmara Moonsong (http://old.wowhead.com/npc=22208), Andrion Darkspinner (http://old.wowhead.com/npc=22212) and Gidge Spellweaver (http://old.wowhead.com/npc=22213)

The way to learn another Specialization (respecialize) is described here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Book_%22Soothsaying_for_Dummies%22

Basically after unlearning any of the Profession Specializations listed above (which corresponds to steps 1) and 2) you should speak to NPC Narain Soothfancy (http://old.wowhead.com/npc=11811). After you speak to him you can learn a Specialization for the profession you have by reading (opening) Game Object Book "Soothsaying for Dummies" (ID: 177226). It should provide you options for learning your corresponding Profession Specializations without any prerequisits.

For Engineering Specialization change, referring to the wowwiki article you should speak with Narain, read the book which will provide you a dialogue option to unlearn your Engineering Specialization and then it will give you the options to learn again Specialization.

Here is a video for Engineering Specialization change, can be used to see what is intended to happen for all specialization changes when speaking to Narain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ffNV2ZRI7M @ 2:15

Until this issue gets fixed you have to contact GMs in order to unlearn specializations!

Hey.

Is this supposed to work now? I just tried to change from Elemental -> Tribal without luck.

Edit: Didn't read very carefully, I'll be looking here to see when it gets fixed.

Devastator, how are you supposed to contact a GM when tickets never get answered?

tfmertz commented 11 years ago

I tried to re-specialize from Elemental Leatherworking to Tribal Leatherworking and the book didn't give me an option to choose Tribal either.

EVEN WORSE - my leatherworking tooltip disappeared, I can no longer even open it up to level it further.

What I did:

-was elemental leatherworking -spoke to trainer and paid 100g to unlearn it -flew to Tanaris and talked to Narain Soothfancy -clicked on the book -gave me normal message (No option to change specializations -relogged -leatherworking tooltip disappeared WoWScrnShot_031613_214521 WoWScrnShot_031613_214526 WoWScrnShot_031613_214536

EDIT: After waiting about 6 days for the GMs to help out to no avail, I figured out that I can get my tooltip back simply by retraining leatherworking Apprentice, Journeyman, Artisan, and Expert at a trainer. I kept all my old recipes as well.

However, I am NOT getting the specialization quests to show up at the trainers. (I figured this much would happen.) So I can be a 375 LWer but never specialize without relearning all 375 levels until the book is fixed.

I attempted to respec from elemental l/w to tribal l/w a couple days ago. 1) was able to drop elemetal l/w. payed 100g. 2) soothsaying for dummies does not give options for respec.

opened a ticket in game asking to be a tribal l/w. GM repsonded when I wasnt online, and restored elemental l/w. i recieved an in game mail saying to submit a new ticket including when I will be online ...

did all the wild leather quests and went to trainer in STV but he only wants to sell you the patterns for tribal l/w. doesn't actually train you. its the first time i have attempted to be tribal leather worker and its frustrating that it doesn't work right! So although Blizzard retail was soothsaying for dummies I would be happy to do new specialization through the trainer if it would work!
