when
there is only 1.

I think I have figured it out:
In GMail there are multiple places a single email can be: Inbox, All Mail, and
then
possibly also in a tag's "folder"
I believe GRiP is counting each of these. A simple solution might be to limit
it to just
looking in the inbox (or create a configuration for showing specific folders
and not
all)
Thanks =)

You people with this 2 email notification problem must be retarded; I had it
for 5
seconds and fixed it. What you have is exchange (PUSH) AND fetch going on at
the
same time, hence the 2 email notifications. I'd hold your hands and give you a
step
by step walk-through but I've remove the mail app and its settings menu from my
iPhone. I'm sure you'll get it now.

Except, that can't be the issue when you only have ONE email account set up.
Think
before you speak hpridham.
And I only have it set to sync with my inbox, yet I get multiple notifications.

No, you think for once, stop whining to Kenny. I only had the one gmail account
setup at the time. The problem stemmed from having push in the email settings
as
well as fetch turned on. I vaguely recall having to go into the per account
setting
had having to turn it off there; this of course differs from the overall
push/fetch
settings. I really can't be more specific without re-enabling the mail app
proper on
my iPhone, which I am reluctant to do at this time.
Sorry for my harsh tone but this problem really isn't to do with Grip, it is
user
error, a common problem faced with Grip.
Give it a go and if you still can't fix it I'll recreate the error on my iPhone
and
retrace my steps for the fix.

hpridham, as much as I'd like you to be right (and I do, because I really want
to fix
this), as far as I can see, you can either have push OR fetch, not both at the
same
time.
In the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings app, there is a Fetch New Data tab.
Inside
you can switch Push on or off, and set the fetch schedule. The description text
under
"Fetch" says: "The fetch schedule below is used when push is off or for
applications
which do not support push." Under that, there are 4 options for Every 15
minutes, Every
30 minutes, Hourly, and Manually. Mine is set to Push:On and Fetch:Manually.
Below that, there is an advanced tab, in which you can edit the settings per
account.
For each account, there are the options Push, Fetch, and Manual. Under the
options, it
says "If push is not available, the Fetch schedule will be used". Here I have
Gmail (my
only account) set to "Push". The options are mutually exclusive, so you cannot
select
Push and Fetch at the same time. There is no obvious way fetch and push could
be going
on at the same time for the same account.
Also, if this is simply a problem of fetch and push being on at the same time
(which it
doesn't seem to be) it does not explain why sometimes I receive 3 notifications
for the
same mail. The labels theory ElykNosrac suggested is possible, and I'll remind
myself
to take a closer look next time I get a message with triple notifications to
see if
they are messages automatically labelled by my gmail filters.
I appreciate your trying to help us out, but next time you consider calling us
retards,
please at least try your theory out first, instead of vaguely recalling, lest
you sound
like a retard yourself.
Sincerely yours,
Jay

So sorry Jay and anyone else I may have offend! I was being a jerk, no question
there. I was sure I had a solution and it was just frustrating to so so many
others
seemingly pass right over what I had done in a matter of moments. I'll hold my
tongue in the future and offer suggestions BEFORE criticism.
I still think there is something to what I did as I haven't had duplicate email
since
I made the change. That said, I have remove the default mail app since. I am a
heavy user of gmail, filters, tags and all. I have a number of my emails
tagged for
paypal and my university so it that were the problem I'm sure it would have
reared
its head before I began to play with exchange gmail... Could be wrong though.
Once again, so sorry.

Hey I think I solved the multiple exchange messages bug.. Go to GRiP settings >
per
app settings, and then goto push notifications, and remove it.
This stopped the double email bug for me... but it also stops push
notifications from
being displayed in GrIp.... so it's one or the other.

I'm also getting this issue. iPhone 3G S 32GB - 3.1.2 using Pwnagetool custom
firmware
2 exchange accounts set up using MultipleExchange. Problem still occured when
only 1
exchange account (proper exchange server) was set up and without
MultipleExchange
installed. Also get 0 new emails bug.
