In bioinformatics, the features (genes) go in rows. For the rest of statistics and data science it's the other way around :D

I have changed all functions and documentations, such that genes are in rows now (for compatibility with conventions in bioinformatician brains). See commit c38dfe2c7758776155de8c980ab1bd24479c6df8.
