Unpopular opinion: skills rise too quickly #42

I suspect I'm in a very small minority, but I think vanilla skills rise way too quickly - you can get to level 10 within a few weeks, you can get to Carpentry 10 before the TV shows end.

Something I did for my own mod, which I think makes the game better, was to change the skill books to only give a 3x modifier instead of 3x, 5x, 8x, 12x, 16x.

This slows down the rate of xp significantly, and as Hydrocraft adds in new ways of gaining xp the impact wouldn't be that bad IMO.

The skills that raise too slowly in my mod were metalworking, mechanics, & tailoring.

Farming is a little slow, but the animal husbandry could give farming skill (like in Stardew Valley)

Probably not something for HC, as i think people would really dislike it, but thought I'd mention it in cause you, like me, don't care what other people think. 🤓

&, on the topic of PZ being too easy, I could add a line of code to prevent weapons from spawning on zombies - so players are forced down the crafting route.

Good idea?

Sounds good. I am currently on vacation but so far all the idears sound good. Here i would say farming is only slow in multiplayer. In single player you can have it on 10 in an hour. And yes i would also prefer no weapon spawning. Especialy since i wan't to make smithing accessible earlier. ( In example you can easily make an "sword" from an copper pipe with an hammer and an hard surface. Even without heat. Its just time and muscle intensive ^^)
