Found a solution out there in the void….
I added “--allow-downgrade” to the shortcut target ("C:\Program Files\MyPal68\mypal.exe" --allow-downgrade) while the program was not running. Then used that shortcut to open MyPal, opened “about:profiles”, set the desired (newer) profile as default, and then immediately closed the browser.
When I then used the shortcut (or hotkey) to open MyPal, the browser loaded the desired profile, which restored all the settings I had been using with V.13.2b, even though V.14.4 altered some of the content. After this I deleted the “--allow-downgrade” and the changes were not affected.
Along the way I looked closer at my “Documents and Settings” directory, and discovered that the profiles are actually stored in two different sub-directories of the same name, but with completely different files.
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\ogd2xe4r.default-default
And
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\ogd2xe4r.default-default
So I’m glad I didn’t need to move files around between various subdirectories as some others had suggested. If I see any buggy behavior from V.13.7b that might be caused by this action, I’ll report it here. So far, the browser is working great, is able to open web pages that V.13.2b failed at, and is using much less memory than V.14.4.

After using Mypal V.13.2.b for some time, it became buggy. From the beginning there were a couple web sites that never worked properly, but lately others would not function as previously. So I decided to upgrade to V.14.4.
First I backed up the existing install by just copy/paste the files directory. After D/L the Zip file, and replacing all the files in the “Program Files/MyPal68” directory, I then ran the “Mypal.exe” file, opened “About:Profiles” and set my previous Profile as Default. This worked great and I was instantly running V14.4 with all my previous settings.
After 24 hours however, V.14.4 obviously had more issues than the previous install. Perhaps just not intended for my hardware? Tabs began to load much more slowly. Switching tabs would first appear as all white, then slowly load the previous content. Hovering over links would stop changing cursor to “clickable” link, and more. During this dry run period, I don’t recall changing any bookmarks or editing the profile in any fashion.
So then I decided to downgrade to V.13.7b, which is currently installed. I tried using the same method as when I switched to V.14.4, however an error box popped up as soon as I ran the “Mypal.exe” file stating that I could not use the current profile with an OLDER version of the browser, and that a new profile would need to be created. I could either do that or Exit. So I created the new profile. I tried a couple different ways to load my previous Profile, but no joy.
I was able to restore my Bookmarks only from a file, but all other settings would need to be done manually.
Apparently, while I was running V.14.4 it altered my Profile so that now it cannot be used by previous versions of MyPal. Is there a way I can undo these changes and restore the Profile to the current V.13.7b install?
Along with the Zip file for V.13.7b, I had also D/L the “Config.Patch” file which was available, but I don’t know if I need it, or how to use it. Any assistance with restoring my previous settings would be appreciated.
Thanks, Wolf
