Shouldn't "renice" be enabled by default? #471

Hi there.

I must admit that I don't quite understand the effects of the "renice" setting, but wouldn't it be nice (ba dum tss) to have it turned on by default?

I've yet to see nice have a positive effect on game performance.

Probably more unnecessary bloat-ware. I just want to note the nomenclature on some of these enhancements or features are questionable. The term "Renice" is not a technical term and does nothing to describe it's use.

If the goal is to provide ubiquitous access to system resources then it would anything but "nice".

So why is it present in GameMode then?

If you look at the gamemode codebase you might be able to find your answer.

The short answer is that when gamemoderun is being used your system is vulnerable to attack because while it does disable some features that can improve performance on your system it also creates a backdoor for hackers to side load additional files or dll's onto your system at runtime.

I personally do not use gamemode for any reason because the performance gain is negligible and the security risk is unacceptable.
