Video artifacts / Sound dropouts with Technisat CableStar HD2 #105

Hello,

in the #openelec channel I got the recommendation to share my issue with you.

I'm building the OpenELEC releases by myself on a virtual Ubuntu machine. Currently I'm using this one: OpenELEC-Intel.x86_64-devel-20130223090559-r13361

This is my HTPC setup: Mainboard: GA-H55M-USB3 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz (Clarkdale / Nehalem) Graphics: Intel HD Graphics RAM: 4GB Corsair DDR3

TV Tuner: Technisat CableStar HD2 (URL: https://www.technisat.com/en_XX/CableStar-HD-2/352-2664-1631/ )

For watching LiveTV I've installed the vdr-addon in combination with the VNSI plugin which is provided as PVR client.

The problem: Watching LiveTV is more than less impossible. Each second video artifacts paired with audio dropouts. Using another PVR client with the vdr-addon, for example the XVDR client, doesn't change anything. Still the same problems.

Some months ago I've installed a yavdr distribution on my HTPC. And I was surprised as I noticed that video and audio worked like a charm. I didn't have these problems with the yavdr distribution.

Of course I checked my coax cable. I've connected the coax cable which is usually connected to the htpc tv tuner card to my Samsung PS60E6500. There it works great, without video/audio problems. Signal strength value at the Samsung TV is about 90 - 95%. Bit errors are by 0.

I will post some logs now with content which I get while tuning a channel with the vdr-addon and VNSI PVR client.

-- /var/log/messages http://sprunge.us/cAEc

-- /storage/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log http://sprunge.us/aijd

Thanks for any help! Jarosch

Hi,

it's really strange. With the latest OpenELEC sources it's working now without audio problems. Kernel get updated now to 3.7.10 . Not sure, if the kernel update is related to this problem. Watching the changelog for 3.7.10 I can see that they have patched some ALSA hda stuff.

Now's everything fine!

So, I think this can be closed.

Thanks anyway!
