What should the new feature do?
Add a backpack that has more storage than a large chest.

Should there be a config option to enable/disable the behaviour?

i suggest that upgrading large backpack with surrounding it with tanned leather 
will add add another 3 row or maybe a new type of leather that uses Cobweb 
instead of string and another type that yes wool instead of string

The size of a backpack can already be defined in the config up to 128 slots.
