Thanks Martin. I've managed to reproduce and am investigating.
Thank goodness for that ! Thought I was going round the bend !!!!!!
Martin I've made a fix for the problem that I was experiencing - I hope that its the same as your problem! Could you install this test for me and let me know how you get on? First download the zip file. Then in plugins manager, uncheck your current TomBio plugin 'TomBio tools'. Then go to the 'Install from Zip' on the plugin manager and load the test plugin - it should create a plugin with the name 'TomBio bugfix test'. Let me know how you get on with that.
Will do !

Re: [burkmarr/QGIS-Biological-Recording-Tools] Problem with TomBio and latest QGIS 3.4.3 (#27)
Hi Rich
We have 90% success !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All but one of my projects that showed the problem now work OK. There is tho' one that still shuts down when starting the Biological Records Tool. Tried shutting down the laptop and re-booting but problem persists.
Very strange ?
Regards Martin

That's an improvement anyway. When I opened 4.3.4 with a project that already had a biological records CSV opened and then started the biological records tool, I noticed that the drop-down lists for GR, X and Y were behaving strangely and the tool was unusable. The fix I gave you was to sort that out (4.3.4 introduced some strange behaviour with those drop-down lists and I put in a workaround for it).
But I've also notice that the software hung unpredictably now and then and I wonder if there are deeper-seated problems with version 4.3.4 o QGIS.
If you have time, it would be good to do some investigation on your remaining project to see if you can isolate what data is precipitating the problem. Does it have a CSV file in it? If you can modify this project to reference a minimal amount of data that still demonstrates the problem and then send me the project with the data, I might be able to reproduce the problem here - which is the first step to fixing it.
I will also keep an eye on the QGIS mailing lists to watch out for other reports of unstable behaviour with QGIS 4.3.4.
When I say 4.3.4 I do, of course, mean 3.4.3!!!!
Re: [burkmarr/QGIS-Biological-Recording-Tools] Problem with TomBio and latest QGIS 3.4.3 (#27)
Hi Rich
Will have a play with the rouge project and see if I can find anything, will also try and get a cut down version that still shows the problem if no other reason for the problem appears.
Cheers Martin

Hi Again Rich
Been playing with the rouge project and removed as much as I can checking if problem still present after each removal which it has so far. No CSV file in this project but some .png files that I can't remove tho'.
What specifically can I send you ? The folder with ALL the data is 27MB

Hi Martin,
Just send me the project file on it's own first (without the associated data) and I'll take a look at it to see what it is referencing - then get back to you.

Hi Martin,
I should also have mentioned that, apart from open CSV files, the other data that will cause an interaction with the biological records tool are layers with point topology - so if you have those in your project one or more of them may be the culprit.

Re: [burkmarr/QGIS-Biological-Recording-Tools] Problem with TomBio and latest QGIS 3.4.3 (#27)
Hi Rich
Right, your comment re: point topology would seem to be relevant ! I had two point layers, deleting them separately showed that one of them did appear to causing the problem !
I deleted the file, problem gone. shut down QGIS and restarted problem still gone. Re-installed the rouge point layer and problem reappeared but ONLY AFTER saving project, shutting down QGIS and restarting project.
Created a new project with only the ONE POINT LAYER file installed. Problem not present until project saved, QGIS closed and and new project re-opened when problem returned !
I will try re-creating the point layer in a fresh project to see what happens, but this may have to be tomorrow !
Hope this helps Martin

Hi Rich
YES, that latest file seems to work Fine !
Checked all my projects and various combinations adding layers, saving projects and restarting etc., without any problems. Generated csv layers on the rouge project etc.
All seems to be back to normal.
One question the test plugin doesn't seem to access the "environment" file ?
Best wishes and thanks ! Martin

Fixed with release 3.1.0.
I seem to have a problem where on an existing QGIS project since upgrading to V 3.4.3 trying to start the Biological Records tool fails and after a few seconds QGIS closes. The other TomBio tools OSGR Tool etc start and work OK.
Tried building a new project from scratch which worked OK until shutting down and restarting new project when the above problem returned.
