Can't Select and Edit Text #399

mgokay commented 2 months ago

I am using Figma Linux on Fedora 40 Gnome and app version is 0.11.4 that I installed as rpm package.

Here is the fastfetch output:

mgokay@mgokay-desktop

OS: Fedora Linux 40 (Workstation Edit4 Host: BQM5 Kernel: Linux 6.10.9-200.fc40.x86_64 Uptime: 48 mins Packages: 2425 (rpm), 2 (flatpak) Shell: bash 5.2.26 Display (LG HDR WFHD): 2560x1080 @ 60* Display (S22B300): 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz ] DE: GNOME 46.4 WM: Mutter (X11) WM Theme: Adwaita Theme: Adwaita [GTK2/3/4] Icons: Adwaita [GTK2/3/4] Font: Cantarell (11pt) [GTK2/3/4] Cursor: Adwaita (24px) Terminal: GNOME Terminal 3.50.1 Terminal Font: Source Code Pro (10pt) CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) CoreT i7-1360Pz GPU: Intel UHD Graphics @ 1.50 GHz [I] Memory: 6.17 GiB / 15.34 GiB (40%) Swap: 0 B / 28.00 GiB (0%) Disk (/): 18.65 GiB / 73.27 GiB (25%)4 Disk (/home): 152.18 GiB / 343.44 GiB4 Local IP (enp130s0): 192.168.1.160/24 Locale: en_US.UTF-8

I think it is related with the new UI. It enables itself automatically. I revert back to the old UI but no luck. I can not edit any text. I try different design projects but no luck. I open Figma on browser and everything seems fine.

Same here, all fonts seem to be missing - see screenshot

Also using Fedora 40, maybe it has something to do with that?

henryau53 commented 1 month ago

I'm the same way, but I was fine the day before. I don't know why today all the fonts are missing when I open them. The system is Arch Linux.

valhugnat1 commented 1 month ago

Same for me, since the update to Ubuntu 24.04

Alan-J-Bibins commented 1 month ago

Exactly same issue in my Arch system, it was working perfectly well until today, I have not updated my system in the last 2 days now so I really don't know what got broken

Yes, it's exactly the same as your situation; it just happened suddenly.

justresisting commented 1 month ago

This just happened to me as well on Ubuntu Budgie.

I have the app installed as an AppImage, as a Snap, and as the .deb. The same problem persists across all of the installations.

Does anyone know where the fonts are kept?

I feel like this may be a permissions issues related to the Figma Font Manager and access to system fonts.

dukcc commented 1 month ago

Yes, also happening to me on Arch, fully updated system, I reinstalled the app, tried the git version, still can't select text.

pyxfluff commented 1 month ago

just started happening to me... need a fix asap

schormeikerlugo commented 1 month ago

I have the same problem with the app but the web version works perfectly. If you find a solution, don't hesitate to shout at me!!

justresisting commented 1 month ago

Is there any update at all about this problem? I am aware that I can just use the web version but if I have to do that I am likely going to stay there.

I like this project and Im willing to contribute my time to helping fix things.

0Nero0 commented 1 month ago

Checked the windows app, works just fine

mtolstikov commented 1 month ago

same problem on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon

marlon-borges commented 1 month ago

Same problem on Fedora 41

kfakos commented 1 month ago

This showed up when I updated to Ubuntu 24.04. Tried deb, snap, building from source. Cannot edit any text and font list remains empty. Even Google fonts are missing.

GloriaAlicia commented 1 month ago

I've had the new UI for about two months and everything was fine, it's strange because even the google fonts that are supposed to work everywhere are not working.

iam4722202468 commented 1 month ago

Also having this issue on Linux Mint 21

izmarel commented 1 month ago

Same issue here, can't edit any text on any project or account (from free to paid). The text blocks are using Google Fonts, so not even a custom font issue.

I'm on Fedora 40 Silverblue, .rpm package installed via Distrobox. All was working fine till a couple of days ago.

kevinfulness commented 1 month ago

@ChugunovRoman any status on this?

iam-DeRez commented 1 month ago

When is the fix coming ??

anacarlaquallio commented 1 month ago

Same here on Debian 12.7.

nicitaacom commented 1 month ago

Same on kali-linux 10.09.2024

EloxFire commented 1 month ago

Same here on Zorin OS 17.1 (Ubuntu)

TaliAly commented 1 month ago

Thanks a lot @Tanza3D For those using nix, I've created a very minimal flake which builds the application from source with the fix https://github.com/adityarsuryavamshi/figma-linux-nix/.
It's a very bare-bones version, but hopefully is useful for someone who is stuck.
After the release you can switch back to the official version in nixpkgs.

Thank you I dowloaded .zip and extracted files in /opt/figma-linux-fixed and just replaced command to /opt/figma-linux-fixed/figma-linux %U
