After testing, I can ensure this happens in all games I have: Valorant, Circuit Superstarts, etc.
I just never needed to reduce the volume of them before, that's why I never noticed.
Did more testing it does affect OBS audio capture volume, but I can still hear the game at 100% in my headset.
With OBS open for some reason the mute function started working again...
This is typically an issue with the app/game, or sometimes Windows, not EarTrumpet. Can you verify you see the same issue with the built-in Volume Mixer? (Start > Run > sndvol.exe
)
I little bit late, but I have the same issue on some games. One for sure that I am playing now is Ghost of Tsushima, and I can confirm that the issue is present also on sndvol.exe
Summary
It started happened for a month now in rFactor 1 and thought Windows broke some compatibility setting. But it happens on WWE 2K23 so I suposse there's something broken here.
Changing the volume or muting doesn't change the volume of the game. (It only works visually, I hear it at 100% always)
Changing the output device works perfectly.
Volume control and mute options works on other programs as Discord and Chrome.
This only seems to affect some games.
Steps to reproduce
Open any game
Change volume or mute that game
See it changes visually on Ear Trumpet bar but you can still hear it at 100% no matter the setting.
Open OBS
Add audio capture input
Select the game
See how volume changes affect the audio input of the game
Keep hearing the game at 100% in the output device.
EarTrumpet version
