2 months ago I have a similar issue and using the following setup: Device: iPhone 14 pro iOS Version: 17.4 Filen Version: 2.0.72 (2072) Camera upload is disabled as I don't use it.
I can use the filen mobile app just fine but as soon as I start using the file provider integration (Apples files app) filens background process doesn't stop. I just played around a bit with the file provider integration and downloaded a file, played an mp3 and tagged it. Not sure if that is only a coincidence or the cause of the issue but just wanted to mention it.
The only way for me to fix this is to reboot my phone.

Filen battery usage represents 27% (1m on screen - 98h 18m background) over the last 10 days. On some days, it can reach 60%. My phone's battery is melting much faster than before. I think this is a problem that needs serious attention.

EDIT: A few days later the battery consumption is back to normal (i.e. insignificant).
After the new update the background activity and therefore the battery usage is enormous (see attached image). It accounts for 43% of battery drain in the last 24h and I use my phone quite a bit to listen to podcasts, check Reddit, surf in browser etc.
