What does ERROR: heartbleed: timeout mean? #50

On a website I get:

ERROR: heartbleed: timeout

What does this mean?

@FiloSottile I've installed Heardbleed locally and that error appears on my local machine, so nothing to do with your overloaded server.

Could this error appear just because the server is already patched and has a heartbeat firewall?

Yeah, it can be, and some servers just trigger that when they are patched. See the 3rd bullet point, starting with timeout at the FAQ http://filippo.io/Heartbleed/faq.html#wentwrong
