This was just the typo of issue I was looking for. :)

I'll continue this list when I think of more things I'd like to have graphs/alerts for!

(There's no urgency adding this, just dumping thoughts here as I think of them.)

Some metric related to how many backends are trying to connect but fail (because they are not configured). Maybe backend->counter is reasonable.
Some metric related to how much we're being poked by things that are not making valid backend connect attempts
