Currently in the recommended implementation the only layout variant that flexes is the under-600px one. That doesn't strike me as especially responsive. More donk-donk-donk than ooooooooosh. It's an invitation for designers to produce three static photoshop mocks, and that's not the right workflow anymore, so let's not encourage it through implementation. @triblondon

Spoke to Bede this morning and he's ok with the fixed widths (at least for the time being when the only product is the article app to be consumed on mobile)

A product manager might well be happy with it, but it's not the right approach IMO - we're investing in making a responsive site by making three non-responsive ones? Not impressed. Let's not do this wrong from day one. I'll raise this with Bede.
