The fullest and most explicit definition that Fromm gives of radical humanism is found in the early pages of You Shall Be as Gods. Here he explains that “by radical humanism I refer to a global philosophy which emphasizes the oneness of the human race, the capacity of man to develop his own powers and to arrive at inner harmony and at the estab- lishment of a peaceful world.
