I'm curious about why we're renaming this?

README.md is the standard, and I am working on some automated tooling to scan all Firebase repo readmes for certain things. Having consistent casing/file extensions makes it easier to form the githubusercontent URLs I need to pull down the README.

Ok, though you'll need to make sure you mirror the change internally to prevent this from being clobbered.
