This is an interesting issue! How can we convey that first, you can use the glyph version of the logo only if it's its monochrome/gradient version and second point people to the right resource which is on the photon icons website.
I am thinking about adding a note/card to the product identity page that points people to the soon to be uploaded monochrone icon on the photon icons website. What do you think @designakt?
I am trying with and without glyph in the card.
I would make the flat icons a separate category on the page that talks about when it can be used, and make clear that it is an icon representing Firefox, and not the Firefox Logo! I think the use-cases are displaying the Firefox icon in:
@designakt do you know what color the favicon should be? is is up to the site or is there a set color you want?
@johngruen I don't think there is one specific color defined. That depends on the context.
@johngruen you can use this http://design.firefox.com/photon/visuals/product-identity-assets.html#icon-as-glyph, it's available as svg, pdf and png and has the default color specified.
