Improve responsiveness of the desktop version #195

Currently the performance of the Desktop version is pretty slow and needs to be improved to be faster. Needs to be identified what the source is and made performant to the expectation of a normal app, although we assume mainly people are going to use the mobile version.

@Jmoody22 with other from UI/UX is going to work on Desktop screens, which might also contribute to responsiveness (see other issue)

@Drew1128 is there a way for us to know later on how many people are using the desktop version and how many the mobile version? That would be valuable for the continued development post launch day.
