Hi, there Great mod, I saw the video made by Mischief of Mice on Toutube today, got totaly blast away by the mod. Having an oil system that does not require BuildCraft and does not cause much lag is just above awesome.

But I'm still a little disoppointed because 1.7.10 is left behind, even it's a kinda old version, but still up to today it is still the most popular tech modpack version now.

I understand that coding the mod to a diffrent game version cost a lot of effort and time, but it really would help with us 1.7.10 players to enjoy this great mod. If you think it wouldn't be worthit to do that, just for the "Old school" 1.7.10 players, I still have something else to offer that might change your mind a little bit.

A reply would be nice

Porting to 1.7.10 would be very time consuming, and I'm not sure I want to invest the time in doing so right now when I'm working on new features and Cyberware.

If you'd like to contact me privately about this, you can feel free to email theflaxbeard at gmail.com.

I play with a friend on a custom modpack, and we would very much like this mod, unfortunately like said, 1.7.10 is not available, and since most industrial mods aren't update for 1.10.2 etc. 1.7.10 is indeed mostly used so it would be nice to have a 1.7.10 version, that is if it's possible of course.

I really don't want to bite off more than I can chew, but I have been thinking about backporting this mod to 1.7.10. Since I am obviously not the creator of the mod i'm not sure how possible/appreciated it would be for me to attempt. Specifically when you say #

Porting to 1.7.10 would be very time consuming

I get a little concerned especially since I'm not even the one who wrote the code in the first place

Hello there, Immersive Petroleum is, in my opinion, the best addon for immersive engineering, it's an amazing mod for modern versions of Minecraft.

As someone, who still uses 1.7.10 as the primary modding platform, it would be incredible and highly appreciated if a 1.7.10 backport could materialize, as it would benefit the remaining 1.7.10 community.

I have taken a closer look at @facetorched initial attempt of porting the mod to 1.7.10 and have attempted to continue the efforts, by comparing the source code of the 1.7.10 branch of Immersive Engineering to for example the 1.10.2 branch of Immersive Engineering to find patterns of the Immersive Petroleum code and backport the addon to 1.7.10 that way.

Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient experience in java and developing mods to finish up the porting efforts to 1.7.10. Are there still considerations made of attempting to backport the addon to 1.7.10?

An answer would be greatly appreciated and I thank everyone who has contributed to this project.

@Xanton19 Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I kind of was feeling discouraged since I received somewhat doubtful feedback that this is worth the effort. Flaxbeard did give me the thumbs up on the project however. I'm on break from school right now so this is a good time for me to get back into it. However there's a couple other personal projects i've picked back up (Why do I do this to myself)

You say you don't have sufficient experience in java and developing mods but I think I'm in a similar position as well. I've made a single addon mod you can see on my github that does very simple stuff. So far, the backport actually has gone smoothly but i've not done much. It's just me who has contributed but if you or anyone you know can help I think it would be an excellent collaboration. Perhaps what we need is publicity in the 1.7.10 community.
