[BUG] Attempt at glider breaks physics of game accelerates with no motors #33

Open tyler555g opened 3 years ago

Describe the bug Tried to build a glider. Instead constantly pitches up and accelerates despite having no motors.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Load plane
  2. Launch plane and pitch up.
  3. Plan accelerates

Expected behavior Expect plane to fly or fail not to accelerate with no motor.

Additional context Add any other context about the problem here. had to rename to .txt to support uploading Glider 1.craft.txt

Interesting, looks like the aero physics are outputting forces that exceed conservation of energy/momentum. I might need to set the global lift multiplier a bit lower.

I think this might be something else - could be perhaps a related side-effect of that "other" bug where you can have the plane away from you but still experiencing strange forces as if it were half-grabbed

pressing the release button again while in flight should clear it off such a case. could you try that and see if it does anything?

Note that in the video, the glider was working in a physics-approved way at first (though a bit tail-heavy for stable flight) -- It was after some fumbling with grab/release/repair/throw commands that it started glitching out.

There it reminded me of other times when I also experienced bizarre forces after launch. In those cases, these forces would stop if I pressed "space" (my own binding for "grab/release/throw") during the violent tumbling process.

Sure. I posted the build in the .txt file attached to the bug post in case you want to try to reproduce yourself.
