Huge bufs are rejected. I'm not sure how to reject binary stuff.
I added a max_size to the room model. The node server respects it when creating bufs. People can still create empty bufs and then patch them to be huge.
The only thing left to close this is to check for binary files.
Is this still a thing?
No it is not.
It's a good idea to stop people from creating huge binary buffers. Not every plugin or client is going to behave nicely.
