Instead of re-getting the buffer, it might make sense for clients to tell the server "give me a patch that gets me from md5sum 1234 to md5sum 5678." As long as the server has versions of the buffer with those md5sums, it could get the client back in sync with no data loss.

Or something along those lines.

Much less of a priority now that we've killed all the edit loops in the web editor and ST2 plugin. It's safe to not care if the md5 matches perfectly.
