BUG: Icons Packs Disappearing #420

Describe the bug Everytime I restart Obsidian, my icon packs disappear. The icons themselves still sometimes appear for the relevant folders, however the downloaded packs disappear from the plugin settings page.

I have tried downloading and reinstalling the Iconize plugin but it didn't work.

Solution: Manually extracting the icon zips into their own folders worked and now the icons remain after restart. Additionally I noticed that the 3 different varieties of Font Awesome icons are included in the zip for each icon pack i.e. Brands, solid and regular zips contain the exact same data. It might be more efficient to just have the 1 download option that contains all the font awesome icons instead of splitting it into 3 different packs.

Update: I cannot recommend this plugin, the icons continue to break and there are too many bugs with the custom rules. The custom rules keep breaking, forcing me to redo them all and the developer does not want to implement any functionality to backup or restore rules. I have disabled this extension and do not plan to use it until these critical bugs are resolved.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Download & install Font Awesome icon packs.
  2. Restart Obsidian.
  3. Icon packs are not visible.
  4. Looks like they may even disappear while Obsidian is running?

-> Looks like the zip is not extracting properly

Expected behavior Icon packs should remain installed between application restarts.

All my icons disappeared with empty folders including my local added icons pack. Is this related?

Yes, that's what happened to me

Go to your Obsidian Vault Folder > .obsidian > icons, open the zip and navigate to the SVG folder, extract it into the icons folder

Tried your solution as I'm having the same problem, but I'm confused how to follow it. It doesn't allow me to set the extracted folders as icon sets? And as a whole I just can't get it to work.

I've set all the icons in their own custom folder that was registered under the and then restarted obsidian after.

They are breaking for me again. I cannot recommend this plugin

I think the plugin is very helpful, but it keeps breaking existing icons with new versions for me as well so I think this issue is something that should be considered so we find a way to keep it stable (or easily fixable) in future versions.
