On my phone I am using a vpn (wireguard) to connect to my local network. When connected to it pinging doesn't work to check online status.
Wake on Lan from Mike Webb (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.mrwebb.wakeonlan) works around this problem and beside pinging also scan for open ports. Default ports used are : 20, 21, 22, 80, 135, 139, 143, 445, 3020, 3306, 3389, 8080
It would be nice in your app to be able to also use this method.
Listing a list of ports would be nice but being able to specify only one should be sufficient. Most people using WOL would have port for ssh or smb open on local network and would know which port could be scanned.
