[BUGFIX] Ensure compatibility for TYPO3 CMS 8.7.32 and vhs 5.2 #1636

This is a backport from vhs v6, see commit fa67db1

This PR is only for old vhs 5.2 version! Feel free to close the PR if you don't need this.

Resolves #1632

Thanks @theLine - I'll close this since the 5.x branch of VHS is no longer supported. The good news is that the 6.x branch of VHS is still compatible with TYPO3 8.7.
