Wollf et al. (2015) - FBrf0227801 also propose 9 columns in layer 1 for 2 different cell types
Boyan et al. (2017) - FBrf0236238 also show 9 columns formed by the 4 columnar neuron lineages
Variable column numbers also found in other species - https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cobeha.2024.101390
We probably don't want to have terms for specific columns (as column width/number vary by cell type), so we can just keep the parent term 'fan-shaped body slice' (and rename to from 'slice' to 'column') and obsolete all the child terms.
We currently model the fan-shaped body (FB) as having 8 slices (columns) / hemisphere (=16 total).
Data from the hemibrain does not agree with this. Most cell types in Hulse et al. (2020) - doi:10.1101/2020.12.08.413955 follow a 9 column structure (1 central + 4 either side) Some other cell types have 6, 8, or 12 column patterns Nothing seems to have a 16 column pattern
If this is confirmed in other flies (e.g. FAFB or light-level data), we should revise our terms for columns.
