Goals from last week:

• Submit multivariate traits paper -- Didn't work on. Waiting on Mike's comments.
• PEcAn
  • Solidify Docker workflow -- Learned and documented RabbitMQ, and caught some Docker-related bugs in the process (PEcAn PR #2134)
  • Test model runs - Didn't get to
  • Also, spent ~3 hours giving others on the PEcAn team tutorials, and other help.
• FoRTE
  • Background reading -- none. Needs to be better this week.
  • Outline first paper -- none. Needs to be better this week.
• Hector
  • Parameter sensitivity analysis -- Very simple analysis of one variable for one scenario in vignette (Hector PR #268). Need to do this more rigorously.
  • Spent ~5 hours on experimenting with ways to simplify Hector installation (especially on Windows), and removing Boost dependency (including Hector PR #267).

• Submit Frontiers paper (remote sensing and global change experiments) revisions -- ~3 hours
• Revise multivariate traits paper -- ~6 hours
• FoRTE
  • Background reading -- ~6 hours
  • Including Ben's Biogeosciences paper on modeling disturbance.
  • Paper outline -- ~3 hours
• PEcAn
  • Test model runs at UMBS and SERC -- ~16 hours
• Hector
  • Run different scenarios. Plot inputs and outputs to understand what's going on -- ~3 hours
  • Parameter sensitivities for each vegetation parameter x each scenario -- ~3 hours

Strategies for achieving goals:

• Fewer "distractions". Lots of time last week went into things with no deliverables (e.g. PEcAn help), or that weren't a major priority (e.g. Hector Boost library stuff).
• Work directly towards specific deliverables.

Also, question for discussion: Should I be attending the monthly GCAM meetings (e.g. the one this morning)? I know I'm not directly involved in GCAM at the moment, but I guess my work on Hector may be GCAM-related? Also, seems like it might be a good opportunity to learn what others at JGCRI are working on. But, it is another two hour meeting, so my time may be better spent on other work. Anyway, something worth briefly discussing.

Should I be attending the monthly GCAM meetings

My biggest concern here is that if you attend it, someone may get the bright idea that I should attend it :)
