PEcAn doesn't do a great job of processing outputs, especially for ensemble runs. I have some hacky scripts that will do the job, but may need to spend some time developing a more robust system.
General pattern seems to be very fast LAI growth in first few decades (up to LAI of 8!); then sharp LAI decline, presumably because of drought-driven mortality (based on water table depth).
Draft of NASA white paper
Didn't get to from last week:
ED benchmarks
Paper introduction and methods
Testing ED sub-models
Hector
Prepared slides for Corinne's DOE meeting
Added notes to paper, including outline of next steps
Experimented with Hector calibration against CMIP5 outputs (for determining parameter ranges for sensitivity analysis)
Idea here was to generate input parameter distributions that capture CMIP5 model variability.
After seeing Kalyn's GCAM meeting update, might be better off just using her results, since she's put more thought into this.
Other
GRL peer review (~3 hours)
Goals for this week
FoRTE
ED ensemble outputs
Link runs to their parameter values
Look at PFT-specific outputs (where available; may be only for LAI)
Generally, try to diagnose which runs show weird behavior and why
Develop better code for reading ensemble output.
Start with more hacky, FoRTE-specific solution
(Time-permitting) Try to build into PEcAn
ED benchmarks (can I get ED ensembles that run in a reasonable amount of time?)
(Time-permitting) Restart ED runs
Hector
Experiment with basic parameter uncertainty/sensitivity analysis for global runs
Look for literature values (or data for constraints) for separate permafrost biome runs. Need constraints on parameters (Beta, Q10, various fractions, arctic warming rate) and initial conditions (pool sizes)
Other
Two new peer-review requests received yesterday. Together, will take probably 6-8 hours. Should I accept?
Finalize and submit NASA white paper (see draft link on Gough Lab Slack)
Discussion topics
Corinne mentioned possible higher time allocation on Hector (up to 50%?). We should set up a time to discuss
