A little over; UMBS bought the land in 1909.
Perhaps the better question is do we know how long it has been since its last disturbance?
That long–110 years or slightly more.
~110 years.
Anecdotal, but you can still see the hemlock and pine stumps that were cut in the late 1800s because they'd cut them in the winter, at snow level, so they could drag them out, which is cool because the stumps are like 4 feet tall now because the snow was so deep. I always thought that was cool.
Ridiculously cool. I love old history still visible in the landscape (even if it makes me sad sometimes).
