Our Discovery Platform group met today to discuss the search prototype. Here’s what we request, please:
Rather than linking each bento heading to see the full results with “X Hits” adjacent, we’d like the headings not to be hyperlinked and have adjacent “See all ‘X’ results” hyperlinked instead, similar to Stanford: http://library.stanford.edu/search/all?search=test
Eliminate the bento section descriptions (under the headings) except for FLASH.
All clicks on links from the results page should open in a new tab.
Catalog
Show first 5 results.
Display title, author, publisher (using the traditional display with location and date - eg: Cambridge, Mass. : Ballinger Pub. Co., c1988), location and call number.
Change “Shelf Location:” to “Location:”
We’d like the material type (book, e-book, etc.) to be more visible, but are willing to wait to see the design your team creates.
Articles
Show first 5 results
Remove the publication type (academic journal, periodical, etc.)
Remove “Published in” but move the information that comes after it to above the description. So for each result the order would be title, author, source, description.
Reserves/Exams
Rename “Course Reserves/Exams”
Databases
If possible, bold search word(s) in the database description.
Library Website
Remove published in information
Do not include libguides (reference staff must discuss this issue). I have removed our libguides domain from the website google search index.
FLASH
Remove published in information
Some items show PDF/Adobe Acrobat. Is it possible to show file type for all items (PDF or Image)?
Columns
We want to minimize scrolling but recognize we want to display a lot of results. How difficult would it be to have 3 columns instead of 2? Can we see a mockup of both options, if possible?
