Apply known fixes #36

The fixes in this request apply cleanly and compile. I've done some preliminary testing only

Also using this as a way of testing whether fixes will be accepted into the community edition

The other fixes will take more work and might be out of my depth, most of the workarounds are fairly simple though and either involve blocking access to endpoints or removing files from the WAR

Out of interest if I change patches should I preserve authorship?

I don't really think it matters, you may wish to refer to the original commit in the commit message for tracking purposes though.
