Open cafehaine opened 5 years ago

cafehaine commented 5 years ago

Icon

Here is the original logo DuckDuckGo logo And here is a monochrome version I made, taking the idea from here (not affiliated to me or duckduckgo) DuckDuckGo monochrome logo DuckDuckGo is a privacy oriented company/search engine.

Name Suggestion

fa-ddg or fa-duckduckgo?

Use Case

As a search icon if they use the DuckDuckGo site search on their site

DeftNerd commented 5 years ago

Digging through their Github repository, I found this one that I think would be more appropriate... Or does it have too much detail?

@cafehaine thx for that request. @DeftNerd I think it's better to use their official black and white version. Especially in this case because it is a brand. We don't make any edits to any brand logos. So if they don't have a black and white version, we don't add it to the set. In this case, let's use their version since they have one.

I didn't find any official black/white logo from Duck Duck Go. I just mailed them (design@duckduckgo.com)

Hi,

Great Search Engine! I like it a lot, as I'm privacy aware.

The issue:

I am making icons for the Open Source tool https://forkaweso.me.

There is a request for a new icon on github.com

https://github.com/ForkAwesome/Fork-Awesome/issues/189

I've download the Press Kit from your website, but there are only logo's in color.

Icon's like ForkAwesome uses are monochrome only.

Do you have a monochrome icon and if not, which would represent your logo best?

No reaction yet from duckduckdo... I've created this logo "https://github.com/diondresschers/Fork-Awesome/blob/master/src/icons/svg/duckduckgo.svg".

xuv commented 4 years ago

@diondresschers I'm not too keen on integrating brand icons that we can't find in black and white. I'm happy that you reached out to DDG to ask. But until they respond, it might be safer not to include anything. Or, since they've use the version shared by @cafehaine because DDG has used it for their t-shirt. So it's a safer bet.

What do you think?

+1 for using the t-shirt version
