If there is still a Fork discord, the invite needs to be updated.

Yes there is and that link works for me. Maybe Discord has/had some problems?

Yes, sorry. Further investigation is telling me Discord now has issues with using a web browser verification process and locks out people with more than one discord account. Relatively new issue. No issue with Discord app. Link works as designed if user removes account information from web browser and restarts login.
