Icon request: square-half-o, square-half-filled, square-half-empty #10673

For use as an indeterminate checkbox.

Application: used in conjunction with the square and square-o as select-all and select-item checkboxes in a tree. The half-filled square indicates that some, but not all, items at lower levels are selected. Especially useful when an upper-level of the tree is closed.

I am aware of minus-square, but usability testing we have done has found that it is intuitive and confusing if used in that context.

This would be very helpful for an interface that my team is developing. We're trying to get across the notion of "half", but need it to be context-independent. We can't use something like "battery-half", "star-half" or "temperature-half".

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.

In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.

We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
