What can it be used for?

This icon can be used in building code playground websites, it denotes the c++ language. Most popular language after python. Font Awesome must have icon of c++ as it has icons for Java, Python, Node Js, Js, etc.

I just don't get why it's not done already. Python, Java, Js, php and many others already have their icons

C++ definitely need his logo to be added. At this point it's just for simple consistency reason since font awesome is used in developing community.

Hello,

You can use <i class="fab fa-cuttlefish">++</i> for C++.

Regards, KD

KrupeshDev commented 4 years ago

It is done

tagliala commented 4 years ago

Hi @KDITGEEK thanks for the suggestion, but please use a plain C.

Have critisism with the logo, the ++ is almost unseen at standard inline icon resolution. defeats the purpose. the addition symbols should be bolder and larger

digimbyte commented 4 years ago

I also don't believe a ring with a 60-degree cut is copyrighted - so what infringement is here?

why re-open it? should start a new post for a new submission Also, why not just re-use an existing one and modify it? surely it won't breach copyright if you already have permission/own it!

Has C or C++ been added to Font Awesome yet? I can't find it.

tagliala commented 3 years ago

@w3b-net-au nope, this is still a request. Please take a look at our Icon Leaderboard FAQs, they contain a lot of information about how requests work

There was no copyright infringement, I would like to draw onto the limitations of copyright https://www.owe.com/resources/legalities/legalities-15-is-a-shape-copyrightable-how-to-get-appropriate-rights-when-you-commission-graphic-design/

Also, the similarities between the original and the 'cuttlefish' are only present in that at least 50% of the body while the other half has diverged in different ways. The cuttlefish is split with a secondary elliptical shape while the original post used a linear cut. the cuttlefish also incorporates a minor flair, elongating the right-hand portion away from a symmetrical circle.

Under common copyright, artworks that derive from other or similar works must be at least 30% to avoid infringement, I find them to be at least 50% different, and the other half to be similar but 1, does not match the thickness, and 2, is considered a primitive shape and is not copyright protected regardless. for ref: https://imgur.com/a/s5JJBa2

That being said, the '++' needs to be revised for smaller resolutions by being enlarged sufficiently to be used as a menu icon

Has C or C++ been added to Font Awesome yet? I can't find it. Is it planned for near future? Do you need help implementing it?
