Hi!
Thanks for being part of the Font Awesome Community.
I'm pretty confident this is a duplicate of an existing request, but the name of this request is much better of the previous one. I will keep this open but if someone remembers the title of the other request please let me know
I would call this grid-masonry-alt
while grid-masonry
would be the same, but without fill (what you see above, inverted). Additionally, I'm not sure we need three rows.
This https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/1461 is the other thread concerning the same icon, where it's called icon-tiles
. I prefer grid
thought, because it refers to CSS grid:
And then there is also masonry
: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/7865
And page-layout
: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/6100
@bartclaeys thanks. I need to sort these requests out
I'm going to consider this a duplicate of #1461.
I'm going to rename #1461 to grid-layout-horizontal
to try to follow Font Awesome's name convention
I would avoid just grid
name because I think that https://fontawesome.com/icons/th?style=solid is a good representation for a grid
Changed my mind: reopening here.
Leaving #1461 open as treemap chart, because it has both horizontal and vertical tiles
Need a masonry icon too! Google has a great one in the material icon library called "Dashboard". Not that I think that it's a good name, but it looks exactly as I'd want and imho pretty close to the famous Pinterest vertical masonry layout: https://material.io/resources/icons/?search=dashboard&icon=dashboard&style=baseline And a great horizonal alternative would be https://material.io/resources/icons/?search=view_compact&icon=view_compact&style=baseline

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.
In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.
We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
What can it be used for? This icon could be used as an interface object to signify selecting a grid of images that have different widths, so don't line up with each other when stacked. Like a crop of a brick pattern.
