Icon Request: User w/ Collared Shirt #15766

I was searching for an icon to symbolize the talk women were doing in our organization to share their professional experience in computer science and I found this the user-tie which matched the idea of professional life that I looked for.

But the tie made it to masculine to represent what I looked for. I was sad to see this icon user-nurse but as I have seen issue #15530. Still, it's what's convinced me to write this issue.

I think the tie is a quite masculine representation of formal/work users and it could be good to go add a woman version of this icon, a woman in the professional environment.

I'm thinking about something like this woman with a colar.

I fully understand this is not a simple icon to design but thought it was important to raise the question because today I'm not sure if the icons are really gender-neutral or just representing men by default?

Thank you for your work and good luck with this complicated issue.

( In the meantime for my case I will go for chalkboard-teacher )

Hi!

Thanks for being part of the Font Awesome Community and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We try our best to keep icons gender neutral, but I can see that we could we pair user-with-tie with the icon you suggested

@sensibleworld any thoughts?

@fnareoh Thanks for the comments! We'd really like to keep all of the user- icons as simple as we can without implying gender (an update is coming soon to the user-nurse icon). That said... I do think there's room for improvement, and I can see the need for another professional/business icon that doesn't have a tie.

I'm not sure this will be the final name, but I'm going to update this request to user-collared-shirt for the time being.

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.

In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.

We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
