Makes sense to have the all set
This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.
In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.
We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
What can it be used for? Used along with "caret-right" and "caret-down" to represent a third intermediate state.
The purpose would be similar to Icon request: toggle-center #16964, in that it will allow for a three-state toggle. A practical use case would be a foldout where "caret-right" is fully collapsed, "caret-down-right" is showing a few details, and "caret-down" shows all details.
Taking this further, it would probably be quiet useful to expand this to all corners:
Furthermore, the "circle" and "square" variations would be nice:
"caret-circle-down-left"
"caret-circle-down-right"
"caret-circle-up-left"
"caret-circle-up-right"
"caret-square-down-left"
"caret-square-down-right"
"caret-square-up-left"
"caret-square-up-right"
And perhaps expand the "angle" options:
"angle-down-left"
"angle-down-right"
"angle-up-left"
"angle-up-right"
"angle-double-down-left"
"angle-double-down-right"
"angle-double-up-left"
"angle-double-up-right"
Doubling the available directions for "caret", "caret-square", "angle", and "angle-double" would make the existing icons more useful, since they could then be used in situations where eight distinct directions need to be represented.
