Hi!
Thanks for being part of the Font Awesome Community.
I can see that this symbol is different from #3522, but we have the same title
Could you please elaborate the differences and provide a different title for this request, if it is not a duplicate?
The already existing ॐ is called om which basically denotes God.
But, the above image though pronounced as om, has totally different history, connotation, meaning, etc. It relates to Jainism religion, whereas ॐ relates to Hinduism religion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jainism
The jain-om
represents a combination of 5 alphabets A + A + A + U + M (the panch paramesthi or five supreme beings),
(Their translations and more info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pañca-Parameṣṭhi#Overview)
So, merging of A + A + A + U + M results in pronunciation same as Om, but it denotes something totally different.
More info can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om#Jainism
It can be jain-om
or jainism-om
. The former is preferable as in Unicode A8FD ꣽ DEVANAGARI JAIN OM, note that it is called jain-om
jain-om
would be a good start. Thanks for the thorough clarification
This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.
In this case we’re closing this issue because we think it might be too niche, or just not a good fit for Font Awesome.
But if you feel really strongly about it, feel free to make your case by submitting a new issue.
What can it be used for? It represents Jainism religion's Om version.
