Correct!
A list used by uBlock Origin is targeting specifically the fa-ad
css class and is injecting
.fa-ad {
display: none !important;
}
into the webpage.
We usually do not change icon names to circumvent ad-blockers, for some reasons including:

has been renamed to rectangle-ad and at the moment I'm writing, it has not been flagged yet. It may be just a matter of time. I suggest to use a custom name if you must use that icon
If you think it is the case, feel free to report to the maintainers of the blocking list that fa-ad
is a false positive

There seems to be an issue with icon
fas fa-ad
.I first noticed it on one of my sites and then I went to the Icon Gallery and saw the same thing there. There seems to be an injected stylesheet for this icon and the rule is defined as this:
