Icon Request: bullseye-square #3510

Closed kimaguess closed 4 months ago

I work for a company who collects data from sensors that are attached to vehicles and assets. We would like to have an icon to represent sensors, so that we can use it in the menu and on the sensor entity page of our application. Here is an example of what seems to be the most universal symbol for "sensor". http://findicons.com/icon/557967/sensor

Concentric circles that become smaller as you go out from the center. sensor image

Would be much appreciated! Thank you. :)

Maybe this one fits your needs: http://fontawesome.io/icon/bullseye/

Fa-bullseye is the one that we have decided to use in the meantime, but since sensor technology and big data is making such fast progress it would seem that a specific “sensor” icon would probably be useful as an option. In my online research for an icon, it seems that the icon I had submitted is becoming sort of an industry standard for “sensor”, so I thought it would be good to add as an option.

Sorry but maybe I didn't get your request

Are you requesting an inverted version of icon-bullseye inside a sqyare, let's say icon-bullseye-square ?

MrGeneric commented 10 years ago

Rather than an inverted version I think he wants one where the rings get progressively thinner the further they are from the center, representing weaker signal strength.

Exactly!

I don't connect concentric circles to the concept of sensing. Also there are literally hundreds of sensor types, for all kinds of qualities, so it's not easy to create a generic "sensor" glyph. Personally I like the eighth from your link best (electrical-sensor).

tagliala commented 10 years ago

Renamed as bullseye-square

kimaguess commented 10 years ago

The electrical-sensor icon won't work for us. We need an icon to represent tags that can be placed on trucks or other vehicles that provide location and sometimes security information. The best icon I have been able to find is the one with the concentric rings that get thinner as they go out from the center.

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.

In this case we’re closing this issue because we think it might be too niche, or just not a good fit for Font Awesome.

But if you feel really strongly about it, feel free to make your case by submitting a new issue.
