@arturomoncadatorres thanks for the help
Anyway, in the meantime Google Scholar has changed its logo, but we would like an official resource
New logo, hardly representable in single color: https://scholar.google.com/favicon.ico
+1 Google Scholar
+1 for the whole Academicons package!
+1 Google Scholar
As a workaround I'm currently using the \extrainfo
command:
\extrainfo{\href{https://scholar.google.co.uk/citations?user=...YourUser...}{\includegraphics[width=0.25cm]{logo_google_scholar} My Name}}
Not elegant, but it looks ok.
+1 Google Scholar
I found this icon could be equivalent to Google Scholar. See https://fontawesome.com/v4.7.0/icon/graduation-cap
+1 Google Scholar
+1 Google Scholar
+1 Google Scholar
Is this not yet solved? is there a solution around this?
Academic icons can be used from https://jpswalsh.github.io/academicons/ until its resealed by fontawesome. It is simple to use.
If you can find an official resource with a single color svg, that would help
Please only official resources (from Google) of the latest available logo ()
+1 for Google Scholar ! :1st_place_medal:
I used a workaround for the google scholar icon. You can use it as a standard icon. Here the full gist: https://gist.github.com/epignatelli/55c262a7996352a7383c967b439aa629
style.css
.fa-scholar {
content: url('assets/images/google-scholar.svg');
height: 1em;
width: auto;
}
google-scholar.svg
<svg height="2500" width="2500" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 512 512">
<g fill="none" fill-rule="evenodd"><path d="M256 411.12L0 202.667 256 0z" fill="#4285f4"/>
<path d="M256 411.12l256-208.453L256 0z" fill="#356ac3"/>
<circle cx="256" cy="362.667" fill="#a0c3ff" r="149.333"/>
<path d="M121.037 298.667c23.968-50.453 75.392-85.334 134.963-85.334s110.995 34.881 134.963 85.334H121.037z" fill="#76a7fa"/>
</g>
</svg>
Usage:
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-xs"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-sm"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-lg"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-2x"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-3x"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-5x"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-7x"></span>
<span class="fab fa-scholar fa-10x"></span>
+1 Google Scholar
@talbs what's a blocker to add the Google Scholar icon within Font Awesome. It'll be highly beneficial for everyone in academia.
PS: Please save this issue from celebrating it's 10 year anniversary! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
How has this request from 2012 still not been granted?

@tagliala @talbs Would you have any feedback?
@tagliala @talbs Would you have any feedback?
Sure!
This is for sure the most requested icon and it is at the top of the leaderboard, but...
From this hidden comment in this thread: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/541#issuecomment-446348271
Hi, all. We just added
mendeley
into Font Awesome version 5.6. Check it out - https://fontawesome.com/icons/mendeley.Unfortunately, it seems like Google doesn't have a symbol they use consistently that we can translate into a
google-scholar
icon. The old Google "g" with the cap isn't official and their material illustrations can't be simplified down to 1 color while maintaining their look/brand.
If you can find any official resource with a single color version of the official google scholar icon we would definitely consider to address this request
Thanks @tagliala for the update!
Google does not have any official public source for this specific icon. Official Google logos are at this link: https://about.google/brand-resource-center/logos-list/. This can actually also help address https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/4655 by providing an official logo for Gmail.
The Google-scholar icon closest to officiality might be the latest in the wikipedia google scholar filehistory: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Google_Scholar_logo.svg#filehistory
This is the same svg I used to build the workaround in this https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/541#issuecomment-751271008

These icons should be added.
Google Scholar, yes please. so it can feature on academic CVs
Hoping to see this soon!
+1, please.
+1, google scholar
Is there an ETA when this will be published ? 🤔
+1, google scholar please!!!
wow, how many +1's do we need to get before it gets added to the library? Anyway here is mine.
mine too

+500 for google-scholar
+1000n for google scholar icon -- looking forward to it.
For anyone awaiting this in need of a solution, \faGraduationCap
is a good workaround for now

@tagliala What is preventing this icon from being added in? Workforce? Time? Copyright?
We might help with some of them.
@tagliala if I'm understanding well there isn't a consistent logo to be used for Google Scholar...what about this one? https://scholar.google.com/favicon.ico
@tagliala You seem to be consistently closing this issue. Google Scholar is possibly the single most important tools for tracking research adoption monitoring career trajectory in academia - especially in STEM.
Academic Icons has a good, and commonly accepted icon for it which I believe has been pointed out in the past.
How can we, the community, help sort this out? Not having a Google Scholar is not an option for academics.
Hi @silicondosa
You seem to be consistently closing this issue
No, I'm closing duplicates
How can we, the community, help sort this out
There is no official single-color version of the google scholar icon. Having an official resource (single color, vectorial) would help

I don't think that not picking an icon because it is not "Google official" is worth missing a Google scholar icon in the portfolio. The number of answers in this thread (it's been open since 2012, 11 years ago) shows the relevance of the problem.
The Google scholar icon is widely spread in the form that Wikipedia has. Most people reference that, or would instantly unequivocally recognise that logo as a Google Scholar logo.
+57 for google-scholar
I am just speechless that google scholar is still not added. +1 for the google scholar icon.
+1000000000 for google scholar. Please add.
Hey everyone, given that its been over a decade now and FontAwesome devs are unwilling to budge with their stringent rules, consider using this alternative: https://jpswalsh.github.io/academicons/.
Deeply saddened that the FontAwesome devs are unwilling to add this icon. +1 for google scholar.

Alright, folks! Hoping to add the Google Scholar logo to our next release. Here's the conundrum. We cannot currently find a single color version of their current logo, which is a requirement for our system. So. We're going to need to make our own.
The icon on the left is the full color logo. The icons on the right are some single color options that we've worked up. We could use some input. For reference, this is what the single-color Google Chrome icon looks like:

A or B actually are preferable. C's scheme loses resemblance to the original logo. If I had to pick one, I highly prefer B since it follows the color highlights best without losing focus of the original icon. The other two do not really look like a person wearing a graduation cap (as in the original logo).

My two cents - I think B is the best one. However, the issue with B is that given the lack of depth, the mortarboard hat doesn't look separate from the head like it does with A. This makes B resemble a person wearing a cardinal's hat. If B had the same gap between the hat and the head that A has, it would be a perfect D option. The issue with A is that the head more like a pokeball than an actual head...
C looks just like a flattened out fountain pen nib.

B is better. But, there is another logo which I see often in the university databases: https://www.pngegg.com/en/png-ebchm

This was the old version of the logo, maybe they didn't replace with the newer one
As per the logo, I would use a full circle for user head and the mortarboard (sorry I've used macOS preview 😅)
This is probably the version I'd go with.
