Icon request: icon-baseball-plate #6352

Can we get a baseball and a baseball homeplate icon? Maybe an open and filled plate?

kayakyakr commented 9 years ago

They have soccer, but no football, baseball, basketball, hockey, cricket, curling, or any other sports. Just soccer. I'd support adding all of the sports.

tagliala commented 9 years ago

adding all of the sports is out of the scope of FontAwesome

btw this request is legit

kayakyakr commented 9 years ago

Why would adding one sport be in the scope, but adding all sports be out of scope?

tagliala commented 9 years ago

Hi,

FA is supposed to work for a generic web application. Of course a small subset of sports is fine to have and all individual requests asking for a specific sport are legit.

A comprehensive set of icons dealing with sports (including minor sports) is a request that is hard to implement for Dave and to manage for me.

Example of a complex request: Title: Icon request: sports Content: I want to request baseball, american football, volleyball, etc. Comments: +1 curley, +1 archery, +1 weightlifting...

We had to fix our contributing guidelines in order to deal with this: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#requesting-new-icons

Please do not request comprehensive sets of icons related to a very specific field.

The best thing we can do in this case is to use fontawesome alongside another set specific to our needs

E.g.: I need to implement a forecast application, so I could opt for Font Awesome + Meteocons

Or I can customize fontawesome: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/wiki/Customize-Font-Awesome

Hope that I explained better now

Gotcha. So, in short, the major sports are cool, and each sport needs to be its own request just for management's sake.
