Not upgrading? #49

Hi! i wanted to ask if there was anything else i needed to do to upgrade the Thermal Turbojets on KSP 0.23.5/ 0.40.0, I have unlocked the Fusion and Antimatter reactors, but I still cannot use LFO, Liquid Fuel, MethalOx etc... is this a known issue or am I missing something?

confusingbits commented 9 years ago

The engine has to have resource flow to allow those options to be used if they are valid fuels. I suspect that you have a weird setup without fuel in the stack containing your engine. For instance, side mounted tanks will not work without some sort of fuel line shenanigans. Just like regular lox/lqd engines.

The setup i had on the Test aircraft was the mk1 cockpit with an inline battery, then LFO tank from KW, 1.25m generator, 1.25m Fusion Reactor behind that and at teh end the Termal turbojet. Also it still says Thermal Turbojet instead of Hybrid Thermal Rocket for some random reason...

Do you have radiators on the vessel? Is the reactor producing thermal energy?

blaz3r125 commented 9 years ago

Yes I do, on my test rig I had like 5 Large rads. and it was producing maximum thermal energy

I'd like to a picture of this vessel with the resource window open, the engine activated, throttled up and the tooltip open on the turbojet.

Here are images of what the Testbed looked like, and my current techtree . I may have missed something so please tell me. thanks

techtree thermaljet

confusingbits commented 9 years ago

You need the basic fusion node. Are you using the kspi tree?

blaz3r125 commented 9 years ago

yea i'm using the KSPI tree, I have unlocked Every node (more or less) up to the Advanced Fusion generators like the "Omega" and "Gekko"

confusingbits commented 9 years ago

You tree is incorrect and is the cause of the issue. Those parts are not available at that node and there are additional nodes above experimental rocketry. Basic fusioin require metamaterials and nuclear propulsion.

Go to your save and delete the tree.cfg and load the game, it should prompt you to choose a tree at the science center view, choose the interstellar tree and update the tree if it prompts you, restart the game if it prompts you to do so.

blaz3r125 commented 9 years ago

Ok, I shall try that, thanks for the help and I'll be back if it still won't work :P

blaz3r125 commented 9 years ago

Well... I installed the Tech tree, but it doesnt look any different :/ maybe i should just start a new game.

blaz3r125 commented 9 years ago

Well I eventually found the problem...In the KSP zip file there is a folder called techtree or somthing... this wasnt installed on my game for whatever reason.... It's anoying how the simple things always get you. thanks everyone for helping
