Common Mistakes

If something is wrong, please check here to see if something went wrong during usage of the modules.

When updating firmware

Features

I want to remap some keys

Go to https://via.app

I want to change the backlight

Three options:

Problems

VIA App doesn't show the keyboard

Make sure to ...TODO

Keys are not working

Please check all keys. Use a website, like https://keyboard-test.space to see what they keys do.

The keys don't type what they are supposed to

They module probably has or has had the wrong firmware. Make sure to flash the right type of firmware for the module.

ANSI firmware for an ANSI keyboard. The Enter key is rectangular and has backslash (\) above it. ISO firmware for an ISO keyboard. The Enter key is not rectangular. JIS firmware for a JIS (japanese) keyboard. Numpad firmware for a numpad. It has numbers. Macropad firmware for a macropad. It's the same size as a numpad but has more keys and no labels on them.

After flashing the right version, reset the settings (EEPROM). Use the qmk_gui application to do that.

On the keyboard, keys do nothing, but some type numbers

The keyboard probably has or has had numpad firmware. See above "The keys don't type what they are supposed to"
