Dear all,
i have a similiar problem with my HTC with Android 2.2 (orig. HTC current
firmware).
The crazy thing is that i can't hear the other person over the handset builtin
earphone (no external headset), but if i switch to loud speaker it work's fine.
On the earphone i hear something like a dialtone (beep beep asf.) sometimes.
Sometimes it seems the sound is coming through for parts of a second.
The wifi link is good and the handset works with TiVi (but don't like TiVi...).
Tried it registered directly on a asterisk with Cisco SIP phone in same
network, calls routed over ISDN and registered over NAT with sipgate - both
same results...
My asterisk gives RTP-Ports between 10000-20000 and typically uses ulaw (PCMU).
It seems the sound is not routed correctly from the sipdroid app when using
handset.
cheers,
Niels.

I have a Garmin-Asus Nüvifone A50 with Android 2.1.
I tried Sipdroid(also the new ver 2.3), and it registers fine with my SIP phone
provider, and I can make calls. The person I call hear me fine, but I get no
sound at all. Not even ringing sound or occupied sound when I make a call.
I tried both via WIFI from my router, and via 3G, which makes me believe that
it's not just a NAT problem.
I have also tried some other SIP VOIP apps, and they have all, except for
one(3CX), had the same behavior.

I'm using the latest version of sipdroid, but the problem doesn't solved.
Sometimes when I call a person I can't hear the other side, and the other
side can't hear me.
I have a linksys router in my home. When I calling from home, it working
perfectly, but if I calling from other places (for example via a dlink
router) its not working.
Is that possible, some routers are not compatible with this service?
How can I known, that a router is compatible without try it?

***SEE COMMENT 70***
Can connect calls, can hear other person, other person can hear dial tones and
key pressed but no voice.
Motorola i1 1.5, latest update using sipdroid 1.5.7, I have tried other sip
clients(csipsimple, etc) with the same result. Also tried using other phones
with same setup, works just fine. Using the "fix" in 70 is the only way ANY
sip client will work on my handset(opus one).
Perhaps i1 specific mic hardware issue? Would like to see this merged with i1
specific issues, as there seems to be plenty. Just happy to FINALLY be able to
use this phone as a phone! thanks oscar for discovering and sharing this
workaround!!!

ALL sip softwares behave like this on the HTC Magic device,I guess the reason
is that the device(HTC G2) doesn't support sip, would anyone have any idea to
solve this problem.
Original comment by wangyant...@gmail.com

HTC Magic supports sip, it was the first phone i had and I made sip calls on it
using csipsimple and sipdroid, i think this problem occurs due the NAT issues.
The reason why I say this is because my current phone is a Tmobile G2 and I use
media5-fone which worked very well for a couple of months but all of a sudden
when incoming calls were coming to my sip address and I answered with
media5-fone sip app on my device, I could hear the person on the other end but
the other person could not hear me. I contacted the people behind the
media5-fone app and they checked the sip traces and said that the call was
established and audio packets where shown to be sent in both directions but
that the reason for missing audio might be due to my provider (pbxes.org) not
providing NAT handling. Or it could be due to RTP packets (voice packets)
being blocked behind a firewall, which could be possible since I make all
Sip/VOIP calls through 3g on my cell phone carriers network.

Having same issue:
Mobile Phone: Samsung Galaxy Apollo. i5800. (factory settings)
all routing done through Gtalk? ....set it up using these exact instructions:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/252222-free-voip-calling-using-goo
gle-voice-sipdroid.html
PBXes set itself up just fine but the call would not dial all the way through
until I went into my GV setting and selected "Google Chat" under Phones. The
other line (a Landline phone) picked up fine and could hear me very clearly and
quite loud but there was absolute silence on my end and I cannot seem to find
which setting affect my inbound audio on this mobile phone. (an i5800).
Enabling WLAN & 3G did NOT affect it.
Did I miss anything while setting it up?

Continuation of coment 116:
Issue Partially Resolved.
I followed up on the tip above that Google Voice may be trying to route through
a Closed port, so I accessed my Router and set DMZ mode (open all ports) to the
Wireless Phone and that has allowed the call to go both ways finally (instead
of only in one direction).

Can you clarify how you set your router to open all ports? I am having the
same issue on an HTC Sensation. Other person can hear me, but I can't hear
them.
I was thinking I could set up port forwarding on my router to the phone's IP,
but the router setting also require me to input the port, and I have no idea
what to put.

Asus Transformer Prime, latest Sipdroid from Play Store, connecting to Asterisk
1.8.7 on same IP subnet (so no NAT or firewall concerns). If I call from Asus
to another extension on the same subnet connected to same asterisk server then
remote end can not hear my voice, but they _can_ hear dialpad buttons if I
press then. If remote extensions calls me then voice works perfectly both
ways.
Somehow internal microphone isn't activated when initiating calls.
Workaround described in #70 doesn't work.
(speaker icon doesn't even appear if docked!)

I can hear the voice of the other party by the other party can't hear my voice.
DTMF are working correctly.
Maybe the problem is in libaudio inside Android ROM.
Any help is very appreciated.

Same issue, Galaxy S2. I can't hear anything, but the person on the other end
can hear perfectly.
I used to use sipdroid with my old Motorola Droid and the same account, never
had any problems.
I have had the same problem with other SIP clients. Maybe this is a Samsung
issue?

I had a similar problem on my ZTE tablet. When using SIP on Sipdroid I heard
the other side, but the other side did not hear me. I have read in this forum
that the problem has something to do with the audio codecs.
On my device I had the data transferred via my cellular mobile 3G or HDSPA
network. I tried then to switch ALL codecs to "Never use" except GSM codec,
which I switched to "Always use".
AND IT WORKED!
Maybe the problem is to switch on the right codec according to the network
connection the device uses. When you use the mobile, cellular network - you
need to switch on only the GSM codec , if WiFi - another codec.
Perhaps in the cases then the other person can hear you, while you can't hear
the other person, the wrong codec is in his/her device. And when nobody hears
nobody, the codecs are wrongly set in both devices.
Hope this will help somebody.

I want to add to my comment #129,
that I have switched on the GSM codec and the other side heard me - this OTHER
SIDE phoned me from a cellular mobile phone using cellular network.
Maybe the codec in your device should be set according to the network the
RECEIVER uses (in my case - cellular mobile network). If you phone somebody,
you switch on the codec according to his/her device. If somebody calls you,
he/she switches in his/her device the codec that is suitable for your device.

This problem was repeated for many of our community friends, they are able hear
incming call but their outgoing calls are not audible, if you tired of it then
leave all the hard work to Vitelglobal.com enjoy voip calling.
