There is demand for simulation of beacon links as well as QKD links.

Beacon links will have fundamentally different units and metrics (since they use sources of much larger power and carry no quantum information) and so should be treated separately

This has a first-pass implementation provided in 221c4c35ee7bd79067696dc3097cb7881507fa45. This uses new objects to simulation a beacon link in power rather than photon-number space. It computes loss, received power and includes a sketch implementation for SNR.

Still to do is inclusion of external light sources in determining noise and therefore SNR
